What is a Grimoire

A Grimoire (also recognized as a “book of spells“) is a textbook of magic, commonly including guidelines on how to create magical objects like talismans and amulets, how to operate magical spells, charms, and divination, and how to summon or invoke supernatural entities such as angels, spirits, deities, and demons. In many cases, the books themselves are believed to be imbued with magical powers. The solely contents discovered in a grimoire would be records on spells, rituals, the preparation of magical tools, and lists of components and their magical correspondence.

Sometimes confused with the Book of Shadows, a grimoire does not on the other hand incorporates writings of a private nature. It is above all a series of records on the exercise of magic.
